The Government of Indonesia is the main branch of the Indonesian government adopted a presidential system. The Indonesian government is headed by a president who is assisted by several ministers who are members of the cabinet. Prior to 2004, according to the 1945 Constitution, the president elected by the People's Consultative Assembly. In the 2004 elections, the first Indonesian president directly elected by the people.
